Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) Trucks and Tri-Lateral Stackers

Very narrow aisle trucks let you put more of your floor into racking and less into aisles. Our VNA range covers two tri-lateral stackers and one VNA standing stacker. All three are electric and rated at 1,500 to 1,600 kg. They are specified for 1.6 to 1.7 m aisles with 1200 × 800 pallets, with lift heights up to 13 m.

What is a very narrow aisle truck?

A VNA truck is designed to work in narrower aisles than a counterbalance forklift or reach truck typically needs. The models on this page are specified for aisles of 1,600 to 1,700 mm with 1200 × 800 pallets, so the space saved can go to extra rows of racking.

A tri-lateral stacker, often called a turret truck in the UK, is a type of VNA truck that can handle loads on three sides: left, right and ahead. The OPX15 and OPK-160 are listed as very narrow aisle tri-lateral stackers. The VDE-160 is listed as a very narrow aisle standing stacker.

Which sites and jobs suit VNA forklifts?

VNA trucks suit warehouses where floor space is the constraint and the building has height to use: tall racking, a high number of pallet locations and steady put-away and retrieval work.

They are a specialist choice. The truck, the racking and the aisle layout need planning together, and floor condition and aisle guidance should be settled before you order. For loading bays and general yard work, look at our forklifts. For racking with wider aisles, our reach trucks may be a better fit.

Choosing a VNA truck: 1.6–1.7 m aisles, lifts up to 13 m

Start with your aisle width and top beam height, then check capacity against your heaviest pallet. The spread across our range:

  • Aisle width (1200 × 800 pallets): 1,600 mm on the VDE-160; 1,700 mm on the OPX15 and OPK-160.
  • Lift height: the OPX15 is offered from 5.5 m to 13 m. The OPK-160 lifts to 9.5 m and the VDE-160 to 9.25 m.
  • Rated capacity: 1,600 kg on the OPK-160 and VDE-160; 1,500 kg on the OPX15.
  • Free lift (how high the forks rise before the overall mast height increases): 3,760 mm on the OPK-160; 3,250 mm on the VDE-160.
  • Turning radius: 1,950 mm (VDE-160), 2,100 mm (OPX15), 2,220 mm (OPK-160).
  • Battery: 48 V / 900 Ah (OPX15), 80 V / 620 Ah (OPK-160), 48 V / 450 Ah (VDE-160).

FAQs

Common questions

What is the difference between a VNA truck and a reach truck?

Both are used with racked storage, but a VNA truck is built for narrower aisles. The VNA models here are specified for 1,600 to 1,700 mm aisles with 1200 × 800 pallets. Reach trucks generally work in wider aisles.

Is a turret truck the same as a tri-lateral stacker?

Yes. Turret truck is a common UK name for a tri-lateral truck. In our range, the OPX15 and OPK-160 are listed as very narrow aisle tri-lateral stackers.

How high can your VNA trucks lift?

The OPX15 is offered with lift heights from 5.5 m up to 13 m. The OPK-160 lifts to 9.5 m and the VDE-160 to 9.25 m.

What aisle width do I need?

For 1200 × 800 pallets, the VDE-160 is specified for a 1,600 mm (1.6 m) aisle, and the OPX15 and OPK-160 for 1,700 mm (1.7 m). Send us your racking layout and aisle widths, and we will use them when we specify and survey your requirement.

Are your VNA trucks electric?

Yes, all three are electric. Battery ratings are 48 V / 900 Ah on the OPX15, 80 V / 620 Ah on the OPK-160 and 48 V / 450 Ah on the VDE-160.

Do you deliver VNA trucks outside Scotland?

Yes. We deliver UK-wide, and handover includes operator familiarisation.
